Who was Romulus? Short biograhpy. Romulus history, pictures and videos. Romulus facts, birthday and Life Story…

Romulus (8th century BC) – First king of Rome (753—716 BC)

Most Romans accepted that Romulus and his twin brother Remus were found as abandoned babies and suckled by a she-wolf. When they grew up they founded the city of Rome, on a hill overlooking the river Tiber, later called the Palatine Hill. As the walls were being put up round the crude huts and sheds, Remus laughed at their absurd height and showed his contempt by jumping over them. Romulus is said then to have slain his brother on the spot, and to have exclaimed that no one was to laugh at the new town.

Romulus went on to rule Rome for nearly forty years. In that time he enlarged the boundaries and took in some more fields for crops. He is said by some to have been murdered.
